Springdale JCC is about finding a new career, new friends, a new
future. It's about pride, confidence, and living out dreams. We
work with students to make it possible by providing basic needs
such as room and board, transportation, clothing, and basic health
and medical services that include basic dental and eye care.
Students earn a modest living allowance which is paid every two
weeks and receive a transition allowance upon completion of the
program. And, students earn bonus pay for good performance as well
as vocational and educational achievements.
We offer a safe, supportive community where students live in a
residence hall located on our beautiful campus just 18 miles east
of Portland. You'll share a room with three other students and
share responsibility for your living area with the guidance of a
Residential Advisor. The residence is bright and cheery. The rooms
provide reasonable privacy. Each of the four dorm wings has a TV
lounge area and laundry room.
On-center activities include volleyball, softball, soccer, video
games, pool tables, dances, and arts and crafts (including
ceramics). Other leisure-time activities include: off-center trips,
a computer lab, and community volunteer projects. Transportation is
available for students to visit the local community when they have
obtained an off-center pass from the Residential Advisor.
Springdale JCC offers six
vocational training programs.
A student is on-the-job during the training day. The instructor is
considered to be the employer and will evaluate the student as the
employee. A positive attitude and hard work assure a solid
reference upon completion. Each vocation has specific professional
requirements for safety and dress.
Springdale offers educational training tied to your occupational
choice and tailored to your needs. You learn at your own pace and
don't compete with others for grades. Our instructors have high
expectations for you and are committed to helping you get your
General Education Development (GED) Certificate. Those who qualify can complete a High School Diploma through a partnership with Corbett
High School. Springdale is accredited by the Northwest Association
of Schools and Colleges and registered as an Oregon State
Alternative School.
